Where did Jump Rope for Heart Originate?
Jump Rope for Heart
began in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1978 with the American Heart Association
and the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and
Dance. Over the years, dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students have
enjoyed the fun and fitness of skipping, while at the same time raising
funds for heart research and community education programs. JRFH has
raised more that $327 million for cardiovascular research and education
programs. Last year there were 23,642 schools in the United States that
participated in JRFH. These schools raised $12,470,000. The Southeast
region alone had 605,000 participants last year.
